Regional Builders

Beyond City Hall.

City agencies aren't New York's only public builders. The School Construction Authority runs its own program, and the MTA runs the region's largest. Both publish their books. This page reads them with the same normalization rules as the City funnel, including the conversion of MTA figures from their source units of thousands of dollars.

Methodology & definitions

School Construction Authority

SCA figures come from Active Projects Under Construction on NYC Open Data (dataset 8586-3zfm): new-capacity school projects and capital improvement projects currently in construction, with their awarded construction value. This is work in the ground today, the SCA's separate five-year plan commits additional future work not shown here.

MTA

MTA figures come from the MTA Capital Dashboard: Agencies Detail on data.ny.gov (dataset kizb-nxtu), using each project's current budget submission. Source values are reported in thousands of dollars and converted here. Allocations measure planned capital budgets by plan, not construction contract awards, the MTA stage is most comparable to the City's Pipeline, not its award flow.

Why these aren't merged into the City funnel

The SCA and MTA publish on their own ledgers, with different definitions than the City Record and OMB plan. Blending them would manufacture precision that isn't there, so they stay side by side: same treatment, separate books.
